Ubuntu
This tutorial contains step-by-step instructions for installing Xen 3.0 from precompiled binaries in Ubuntu Dapper Drake.Xen lets you create guest operating systems (*nix operating systems like Linux and FreeBSD), so called "virtual machines" or domUs, under a host operating system (dom0). Using Xen you can separate your applications into different virtual machines that are totally independent from each other (e.g. a virtual machine for a mail server, a virtual machine for a high-traffic web site, another virtual machine that serves your customers' web sites, a virtual machine for DNS, etc.), but still use the same hardware. This saves money, and what is even more important, it's more secure. If the virtual machine of your DNS server gets hacked, it has no effect on your other virtual machines. Plus, you can move virtual machines from one Xen server to the next one. http://www.howtoforge.com/xen_3.0_ubuntu_dapper_drake

This guide comes with lots of screenshots and is therefore easy to follow even for Linux newbies. http://www.howtoforge.com/perfect_setup_ubuntu_6.06

Ubuntu
This is a detailed tutorial about the steps to set up a Ubuntu based server (Ubuntu 5.10 - Breezy Badger) to act as file- and print server for Windows workstations in small workgroups. This howto uses the tdb backend for Samba to store passwords and account information. This is suitable for workgroups for up to 250 users and is easier to setup than an LDAP backend.Installed Software:
  • Samba as domain controller
  • Cups
  • Foomatic printer drivers

Ubuntu
The reviews of Ubuntu/Kubuntu 5.10 are pouring in - Debian-news.net has assembled them in one thread - so far there are reviews from Linux.com, tectonic (and an update), tectonic from a developer's point of view and from Ars Tecnica.. Get the big picture here: http://debian-news.net/modules/news/article.php?storyid=223.
