Kernel IssuesI want set up VPN on my VPS but when i try to turn on tun/tap i see: :/lib/modules# modprobe tun os : debian 5 can any 1 help me ? I've just upgraded my smp PIII system to squeeze. The basic 686 kernel package has smp enabled according to the config file. The system log shows two processors being activated and then the kernel outputs the message 'SMP disabled', 'Brought up 1 CPUs' 'Total of 1 processors activated'. Snip of log attached. Any idea how to get my second processor into play? Foolishly I removed the Lenny kernel before I noticed I was only on one cpu. Thanks Steve Just discovered that the kernel parameters 'noapic nolapic' which were needed when I installed etch and have been retained without thinking since are the culprits. After removal I now have 2 cpus. Great. Hello debianHELP, I'm a long-time Linux-er and lately I've been sticking to Ubuntu - but when it came time to build a Xen system I figured what better way than to use debian and since squeeze was just released with support for Xen 4 what better way to do this. Except I'm having some problems. I followed the instructions here: I can boot the regular plain-jane kernel without a problem, but when I boot the Xen-4 hypervisor kernel I get a crash, and unless I include the line 'noreboot' it immediately reloads the system. Hi Would be really appreciated for your help. I'm a Debian testing user (not an experienced one) on laptop Dell Latitude D531 and has encountered a problem: I've often got my laptop slowed down very much and the message appears in a console: Disabling IRQ #19 I've searched for the solution, but failed finding the answer. dmesg showed: Hello all after playing with google i found this (http://linuxsaga.com/guide/compiling...rnel-in-debian) and try to do step by step compiling i got some problem. first this (The UTS Release version error Kernel Compile ) and then some problem with version.h and lucky all of them solved!!! after installing new kernel .deb file and rebooting I got panic error. something like this: cannot fount (or mount) partition. actual message is: not syncing: vfs: unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0) what is the problem. |
