General and Miscellaneous ForumsWe've had all sorts of chaos as a result to moving to a different server and to different software. Thus, we're presently experiencing some problems and errors with the site. Please bear with us while we work through this... Maybe I am just more uninformed than others, but this explanation of how marketers found a way around the usual delete the cookies routine using flash left me fuming. Especially so after I ran: find . -iname *.sol on my home directory and found circa 50 entries of these so-called super-cookies. According to some sources, all of them, for now, are stored as these sol files in a special directory under .macromedia. In addition, I found a couple in .gnash/SharedObjects dir. I hope this helps to spread the awareness a bit. I hope Stagger Lee finds the bloody bastards who make that dung ;-) . Does anybody else think Wheezy is a stupid name for a high-performance OS? I work with other progressives who use Microsoft. This seems strange to me. We wring our hands about what shall we do to defeat the Empire-of-the-very-very-wealthy-few_at-the-expense-of-the-many, but we don't see what is right in front of our eyes: Open Source is politics. Its a part of the needed revolution. It involves killing no-one and using it rather that Microsoft for most people is no sacrifice at all. It is cheaper and more stable. It has become user friendly. You can't down-load instant movies from Netflix on it. Big sacrifice. But maybe I can live with it. Maybe I should get more aggressive with my friends. Should say, "if you claim you are interested in the revolution, yet you write your tracts on Microsoft, you are a hypocrite." I'm in the process of working on a new version of the site using a newer version of Drupal (the free software that powers the site). One goal is to reduce the ability of spammers to post their rubbish, but what I was wondering is what features/ideas/Drupal modules that others think might be useful. Comments? Ideas? |
