Hi all and thanx in advance, especially for your patience.

I bought a new 300G HD for my Dell D810
I formatted the new drive for 200G to devote to Windows Expectorate
I spent A DAY installing XP and getting it to behave.
I then pondered the Debian install (the goal!) for a week. Though I foolishly didn't carefully read the installation instructions on the Debian site as instructed.
I tried to install Debian in the unused 100G partition. That went well. (I thought)
At the end of the install I selected to not boot to Debian? Installation option. Confused here.
Upon reboot, machine boots to Debian.
I could not get XP back up and no evidence of dual boot capability
I could not rescue the XP install.

Hi all,

Care to share your experiences or knowledge of getting the windows refund in various countries?
I am personally looking for information about Germany. Actually, (netbook vendors do you read this?), the only reason
not to immediately buy a ASUS 1015PEM netbook from Saturn in Berlin is that it comes bundled with MS Windows. I asked
one of the staff to tell me about their policy and he quoted "it is the part of the product".

Hi,

First of all i'm fairly new to Linux and Debian but i've been trying to find the answer to my question from various sources and the methods other people have used to solve the problem don't seem to work for me.

Okay first of all my setup:

I've got a bridging cable modem Cisco EPC3000 (Eurodocsis 3.0 compliant)
I've connected it to a Cisco Switch that my Linux computer and Windows 7 computer are connected to.

With this particular cable modem it's not possible to enable it to have routing on, so basically my ip-adresses are assigned by the ISP and are external.

So i'm trying to mount fileshares on my Windows 7 machine from the linux computer using the ip that's assigned to the Windows 7 computer.

the command goes something like this:

Not sure if this is the right forum topic, but here goes.
Have Dell Precision M6400, 8GB RAM, solid state disk + mechanical.
Currently running XP x64, VMware 7.0.1. running Debian 64-bit.
I'm sick of Windows wasting my time, crashing/freezing/BSOD and all the usual nonsense.
I have to use Windows, some of the development tools I need only exist for Windows.
I will upgrade to Windows 7 shortly.
On that occasion I have the option of making Debian the host and running Windows in the VM, or staying with the present configuration.
So if anyone has experience with a similar setup, I would be most grateful for any insights or advice.

/Paul
